NARUC assembles COVID-19 news, resources for general use

Tracking the legion of information surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak can be daunting at times, but the non-profit National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) has begun compiling a comprehensive catalog of news and resources on a new website.

“These resources will allow our state members, industry, the media, and the general public to stay abreast of the range of state and industry actions pertaining to COVID-19,” Mississippi Commissioner and NARUC President Brandon Presley said.

The COVID-19 News & Resources site is a joint effort by NARUC and its research arm, the National Regulatory Research Institute. Presently, the accumulated data includes information on state utility actions related to the disease, based on data from state commissions, the Edison Electric Institute, and other sources. The hope is to build it as more information becomes available, and other industry trade groups and organizations begin to contribute. For now, it includes a wealth of information and a tracker to follow events state by state.

“The state action tracker underscores not only our need to capture information in as close to real time as possible, but it is an excellent example of NRRI’s and NARUC’s ability to work quickly and collaboratively with state members and industry groups alike,” Rhode Island Commissioner Marion Gold, NRRI Board Chair, said.
