FirstEnergy to provide $1 mln in relief funding for Pennsylvania customers

FirstEnergy Corp. has made about $1 million available to its customers in Pennsylvania who are facing hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The relief money is available to customers through the Dollar Energy Fund and the Pennsylvania Customer Assistance Program (PCAP).

The Dollar Energy Fund is an emergency fund designed to help residential customers restore or maintain electric service. The relief aid is distributed and administered through Dollar Energy, but the funding is provided by FirstEnergy customers, company employees, FirstEnergy shareholders and other sources. Eligible customers may receive up to $500.

The Pennsylvania Customer Assistance Program (PCAP) helps residential customers maintain electric service as well as eliminate their past-due balance. Debt forgiveness credits are applied directly to participants’ electric service accounts in recognition of payments that are made in-full.

These programs are available to FirstEnergy customers in Pennsylvania through its subsidiaries, Metropolitan Edison, Pennsylvania Electric Company, West Penn Power, and Pennsylvania Power. Metropolitan Edison serves eastern and southeastern Pennsylvania; Penn Electric serves the northern and central parts of the state; Penn Power serves western Pennsylvania; and West Penn Power serves central and southwestern Pennsylvania.

FirstEnergy provides energy for customers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland and New York.
