National Governors Association selects states for grid modernization academy
Kentucky, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington will participate in the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices Policy Academy on Power Sector Modernization project, according to the NGA.
The project was established to help states as they align market incentives with policy goals to create a more efficient and resilient power sector.
State teams will utilize the Power Sector Modernization Policy Academy to design action plans around how to foster grid modernization, environmental stewardship and resiliency.
The four states that have been selected will address challenges in order to learn how to effectively navigate the power sector’s transformation.
The academy is supported, in part, by the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability Electricity’s (OE) Policy Technical Assistance Program.
The NGA policy academies enable small groups of state teams to develop strategies and implement them in order to address complex public policy challenges. The policy academy process and the lessons provided are intended to serve as a resource for other states to use in order to address similar challenges.
