As part of a reliability improvement, clean energy access and growth support initiative, Ameren Missouri and the Ameren Transmission Company will rebuild approximately 10 miles of transmission line running through St. Louis city and county.
That line runs on the right-of-way in south St. Louis, crossing the Mississippi River to end in Dupo, Illinois. Work should conclude in winter 2022, but in the meanwhile, a new website for the project has been launched to keep people updated. An online opportunity, provided by the Metro South Reliability Project, will also discuss the project further, in lieu of a typical in-person forum, which COVID-19 has rendered non-viable.
“We’re encouraging all customers who live or travel in the project community to visit our website to understand what to expect during construction,” Suzanne Pohlman, project manager for Ameren Transmission, said. “The website will provide project updates, videos and maps so you know what to expect during the upcoming construction.”
The project is also a smaller piece of the company’s larger Smart Energy Plan, which altogether represents the largest energy infrastructure plan in Ameren Missouri’s more than 100 year history. It is focused on making the energy grid more reliable, boosting customer control over energy usage, speeding the transition to cleaner energy and introducing more affordable rates.
