A 138,000-volt transmission line project pursued by Ameren Illinois received approval from the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) this week, authorizing both its route and associated facilities.
The Logan County Connector Project will span approximately nine miles and cost more than $24 million focused on building new transmission lines to improve grid reliability for local customers in the Lincoln and Logan County areas. Regulators granted it a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity.
“The approval of the Logan County Connector Project is a significant milestone toward strengthening energy reliability for local customers,” Sarah Dorlac, project manager of the Logan County Connector Project, said. “We’re appreciative of the community’s feedback to help us develop this route and receive project approval.”
While discussions will continue between Logan County landowners, county officials, and Ameren, construction should begin this fall. Currently, the company predicts the new lines to be operational by December 2023.
