National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) President Robert F. Powelson appointed Diane X. Burman, a commissioner of the New York State Public Service Commission, to the NARUC board of directors.

“It is a great honor and privilege to join the NARUC board of directors,” Burman said. “NARUC has long been recognized as a national leader on important regulatory energy issues confronting our states and I look forward to participating collaboratively with the NARUC board in this leadership role.”

Burman serves as vice chair of NARUC’s Committee on Gas and the Committee on Critical Infrastructure and chairs the NARUC-Department of Energy Natural Gas Infrastructure Modernization Planning Initiative. She also serves on the Special Subcommittee on Pipeline Safety and the Gas Technology Institute Public Interest Advisory Committee.

Additionally, Burman is a member of the 2018 World Gas Conference National Organizing Committee and sits on the advisory board to the Financial Research Institute of the University of Missouri. She also previously served as chair of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners Gas Committee.

“Commissioner Burman makes an excellent addition to NARUC’s board of directors,” Powelson said. “Her experience on multiple committees, coupled with the depth of her regulatory acumen, will make her an ideal fit.”
