The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) recently announced a Technical Conference to address questions and concerns related to the implementation of the recently enacted SEA 309 on net metering and distributed generation.
The conference’s agenda will be based on questions and comments submitted by the public and those involved in the installation of solar panels and other net metering equipment.
SEA 309 will reduce that rate to approximately three cents per kilowatt-hour plus a 25 percent premium
for the extra electricity they produce, a reduction from the current 11 cents per kilowatt-hour. The bill would full phase out net metering by 2047.
The legislation also states that those who install renewable energy systems before the end of the year will be grandfathered into the program. The forum will include questions about the deadline for the grandfathering provision.
The conference will take place on July 20 in Indianapolis, Indiana and will also be livestreamed online. Questions and comments must be submitted before the conference in writing, via email or by U.S. mail.
