The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Nominating Council released a request for applications on Sunday to fill a vacancy for PUCO Commissioner for an unexpired term from this summer through April 10, 2020.

The PUCO Nominating Council will accept applications until Wednesday, June 1. The successful applicant will fill the role of PUCO commissioner on an unexpired term that will begin upon appointment by the government. The successful applicant will serve close to four years in this capacity.

The PUCO Nominating Council is a 12-member, broad-based panel that screens incoming commissioner candidates. The PUCO is an organization comprised of five commissioners on rotating, five-year terms. All commissioners are appointed by the governor and are responsible for the regulation of public utilities in Ohio.

The Nominating Council will review all applicant resumes between June 1 and June 16. After the list of applicants is narrowed down, members of the Nominating Council will conduct interviews until four finalists are found. Finalists will be recommended to Gov. John R. Kasich, who will have 30 days from the date of submission to select and appoint a commissioner or request a new list of applicants. Once selected for appointment, the Ohio Senate must also confirm the selected nominee into the position.

Interested applicants can find more information regarding how to apply on the PUCO website.
