Arizona commission eliminates several reporting requirements for electric cooperatives
The Arizona Corporation Commission recently eliminated several reporting requirements for electric cooperatives in the state, including rules requiring the filing of yearly load curtailment plans and Net-metering Facilities reports.
“These items either eliminate or modify requirements that the Commission has seen as unnecessary or burdensome for these Co-ops at this time,” Chairman Tom Forese said. “The Co-ops are different because they have another body of elected representatives who are accountable for making decisions on behalf of their communities.”
Ajo Improvement Company, Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Arizona Public Service Company, Columbus Electric Cooperative, and UniSource Electric Company are a few of the 16 investor-owned and cooperative utilities are under the Commission’s jurisdiction.
“In accordance with Governor Doug Ducey’s efforts to eliminate unnecessary regulation, we accomplished two goals with these changes; one, the elimination of said regulations, and two we prioritized rural Arizona’s needs,” Forese said. “I am proud of our actions today.”
