PG&E’s Stavropoulos named to National Safety Council’s Board of Directors

The National Safety Council (NSC) recently named Nick Stavropoulos, the Pacific Gas and Energy (PG&E) Corporation’s president and COO, to its board of directors.

“Our newest board members, including Nick, are true safety leaders who are passionate advocates and among the most dedicated professionals in the industry today,” NSC President and CEO Deborah Hersman said. “I look forward to working with Nick to advance our mission of ending preventable deaths in our lifetime.”

The nonprofit NSC currently has more than 55,000 members and works to prevent injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through a variety of research, education and advocacy initiatives.

An energy industry veteran of more than 35 years, Stavropoulos currently oversees a large workforce across the electric, gas, power generation and nuclear operation sectors. He started working at PG&E in 2011 to help lead the company’s multibillion-dollar recovery and restoration project in the wake of a large pipeline explosion the year prior.

“The mission of ending preventable deaths in our lifetime drives me both professionally and personally,” Stavropoulos said. “There is no more important goal that we can achieve than having our family, friends, and coworkers return home safely to their families every single day. I am truly honored to join the NSC’s Board and look forward to helping the organization and industry raise the bar on safety.”
