The Department of Energy Resources and the Department of Housing and Community Development of Massachusetts announced on Tuesday that they are seeking stakeholder engagement for the Affordable Access to Clean and Efficient Energy Initiative (AACEEI).
The AACEEI, announced last month, was created to improve access to renewable energy, clean energy and more efficient energy technologies for residents.
Low- and middle-income households in Massachusetts spend an average of 14 percent of household income on energy – approximately twice that of the state average overall. These households have challenges transferring existing energy technologies for more energy-efficient updates that could save on energy bills. The AACEEI was created to assist in that process.
The Department of Energy Resources and the Department of Housing and Community Development of Massachusetts announced that they are seeking the participation of stakeholders in the development of new programs to support the initiative. Topics to be discussed in the next six months include the inability to secure financing, high energy costs, complex subsidized housing structures and concerns regarding renters.
Interested parties are asked to sign up for the Affordable Access newsletter. The newsletter will include questions for stakeholders, information about existing programs and information about new initiatives. The final report disclosing the results of the AACEEI will be released through the newsletter.
