The Geothermal Resources Council’s (GRC) annual October meeting in Sacramento, Calif., will bear the theme “Geothermal Energy – Here and Now: Sustainable, Clean, Flexible” over the course of four days of workshops, networking events and technical presentation.

The annual meeting brought together more than 1,200 representatives from more than 25 countries across six continents last year. The GRC anticipates even larger attendance figures this year, owing to an expansion of the market around the world, as well as policy development and new technological advances that have brought diversity and growth to the field.

“This will be the 40th year the GRC has brought together the US and international geothermal community,” Steve Ponder, GRC executive director said.

With a schedule containing more than 40 hours of presentations, as well as a plenary session and four field trips, the meeting will focus discussion on issues including drilling technologies, solar-geothermal hybrid systems and low-temperature systems.

The Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) will host its newly expanded GEOEXPO+ in conjunction with the GRC annual meeting. GEOEXPO+ will bring together agency and company representatives in an exposition that enables networking and cooperation.

“It takes the best technology, and a top-notch team to succeed in today’s marketplace, and the GEA GEOEXPO+ is meant to facilitate both,” Karl Gawell, GEA’s executive director, said.
