The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) recently praised steps taken by the New Energy Industry Task Force at it May 26 meeting in Nevada.

The Task Force assembled to evaluate new policy options and to consider strategies for implementing increased clean energy options in the state.

“The ouncil commends the progress made by the New Energy Industry Task Force and welcomes the report today of its Technical Advisory Committee on Clean Energy Sources,” BCSE President Lisa Jacobson said. “The broad set of policies the task force is considering is a positive step forward and shows continued clean energy market leadership at the state level. Deploying cleaner and more efficient energy solutions in Nevada will grow the economy and create jobs.”

Between 2008 and 2013, renewable energy generation capacity doubled in Nevada, a state in which approximately two-thirds of total energy is generated by natural gas. Continued development of renewable sources would lower both carbon emissions in Nevada and energy bills for consumers.

“The nation’s electricity sector is undergoing a sweeping transition to clean energy as a result of innovations in technology, new business models, changing consumer behavior and smart public policies. Consumers now have access to more options for affordable, reliable clean energy,” Jacobson said.
